Item Impact of ACEs & High-Risk Sexual Behavior Among NKU Students(Northern Kentucky University) Distler, StephanieAdverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are vulnerable traumatic incidents that an individual can endure throughout their childhood. ACEs can negatively impact an individual in many ways, which includes engaging in high-risk sexual behaviors. An electronic self-report survey will examine ACEs and high-risk sexual behavior among NKU students. This study anticipates finding an individual with a higher ACE score having more high-risk behaviors. These results will inform the NKU community about the effects that ACEs and high-risk sexual behaviors have on an individual and the need to provide appropriate services.Item Mental Health Interventions Impact on College Students Quality of Life(Northern Kentucky University) Harman, ZanaAdverse childhood experiences will impact a child survivors interpersonal relationships, mental health, and physical health. The effects of adverse childhood experiences do not stop in childhood and will go on to impact the survivors into adulthood, more specifically college students on campus. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions for adverse childhood experiences and its effectiveness on the college student’s quality of life. The further study will determine if therapeutic interventions for adverse childhood experiences will be beneficial to the college campus.
