dc.description.abstract"Nationally, crime incidents increasingly gain media attention. Media sources increasingly criticize police, suggest they are given too much authority/responsibility and argue that situations would have been better addressed by social services. This study explores the perceptions of individuals that have had previous interaction(s) with law enforcement, and if they feel their situation would have been better addressed by social services. Data is collected virtually via a self- administered 5-minute survey. This research will result in targeted policy initiatives and improved social service interventions for law enforcement interactions, as well as an improved and targeted research focus based on these preliminary results."en_US
