Abstract
Addictions are influenced by genetics, neurobiology, past experiences, and stressors. Social isolation due to COVID-19 is especially stressful for addicts. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the pandemic on the frequency of drug use. Using an electronic questionnaire, this study will compare the frequency of illicit substance use prior to and during the pandemic. The findings are expected to show that drug use has increased since the COVID19 pandemic. In turn, these findings will help advocate for the allocation of resources to substance use prevention and intervention programs.
