Many companies are opting for either on premises or in the cloud virtualization platforms for hosting their applications. In the pursuit of less overhead and more performance a newer virtualization technology, which offers a different way of packaging and deploying business applications as containers, has started to appear. One of the most common open-source versions of this is Docker, which facilitates this process through the use of the Docker Engine and containers.
