During this Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) we looked at a palladium catalyzed -heteroarylation of tropinone by the irradiation from a microwave at 180 °C 20 min. In an attempt to successfully make a - heteroaryl compound we used a 1.1 eq tropinone, 1 eq heteroaryl halide H51, 2.4 eq of NaOt Butanol, 2 mol% of XPHos Pd, in a 2 mL of toluene.
