Most pharmaceuticals are made from heteroaryl compounds. The purpose of this project was to study bioactive heteroaryl compounds that could potentially be a breast cancer treatment due to its likelihood to inhibit aromatase, a pharmaceutical target for breast cancer. Through our research we reacted different heteroaryls with tropinone by microwave assisted, palladium- catalyzed direct heteroarylation. The products were then purified, identified, and evaluated by MPLC, NMR, and computer modeling. This study provided not only useful discoveries in cancer research, but also developments of CURE and UROCC labs for undergraduate chemistry students."en-USHeterocyclic compoundsBreast CancerCancer TreatmentSynthesis of Heteroaryl Molecules Through Palladium-Catalyzed HeteroarylationPresentation
