Mental Health Symptoms Among Student Athletes
Northern Kentucky University
"The literature indicates that student athletes experience mental health symptoms at a higher prevalence when compared to students not participating in athletics. There is little research conducted on this prevalence among Northern Kentucky’s regional students. This exploratory, cross-sectional study, which utilizes non-probability, purposive sampling, seeks to examine this prevalence. The results of this study are expected to show that regional student athletes are equally susceptible to the increased prevalence of mental health symptoms as those in other regions. The hopes of this study are to provide regional student athletes insight into their increased risks of developing mental illness."
