Abstract
"The need for drug rehab for women has grown over the years, however there remains limited drug rehab help for women and limited research addressing this need. Most research focuses on men and centers primarily focus on the male population. Because men and women react differently to chemical intervention, their rehab needs may differ. Circumstances that influence women’s drug use can also be quite different from issues that trigger drug abuse among men. With these factors in mind, and with the need to address the increase in women who need drug rehab, it is important to explore factors that influence drug abuse among women and prevent them from breaking the cycle. Further, it is essential to better understand the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the women who are caught in this vicious drug abuse cycle and provide services that focus on the unique needs of women to help them transition back into society."
