Abstract

"When people think of medical advancement, most people think of biology or genetics however heteroaryl compounds found in organic chemistry are just as important to medical advancements. During this Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) we looked at a palladium catalyzed -heteroarylation of tropinone by the irradiation from a microwave at 180 °C 20 min. In an attempt to successfully make a - heteroaryl compound we used a 1.1 eq tropinone, 1 eq heteroaryl halide H51, 2.4 eq of NaOt Butanol, 2 mol% of XPHos Pd, in a 2 mL of toluene. This data could be further advancements for not only breast cancer but many other types of pharmaceutical targets with possible metal-chelation integrations."
