Abstract

"Popular culture is an aspect of life that we are exposed to daily whether it be a simple television program to the various world issues we face. Over many decades, there has been an overwhelming presence of these issues, allowing protest music to come to the forefront. The purpose of this study is to determine how these songs impact popular culture and social movements from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and modern-day. Furthermore, it explores what songs were inspired by each movement, their significance, and how they relate back to modern-day protest music."
