Abstract

"The ramification of experiencing one ruinous event or a progression of events during childhood has shown to induce deleterious effects on an individual’s cognitive prosperity and level of academic accomplishments. The current cross-sectional study seeks to examine the relationship between childhood maltreatment and academic success. A self- administered survey was distributed to 50 NKU students. The results of this study are expected to provide statistical evidence to support a higher estimated risk of poor academic engagement and academic performance for NKU students with adverse childhood experiences. Results will augment social awareness of the negative impact childhood trauma has on academic success."
