Abstract

Research suggests that college students use substances when dealing with overwhelming stress or anxiety. The current study seeks to examine to what extent NKU students are using alcohol to cope with anxiety. A brief self-administered survey will be used to assess for alcohol use in response to anxiety. The results from this IRB approved study are expected to show a correlation between anxiety and alcohol consumption. These findings can assist social workers in identifying the need for interventions that could lower anxiety among college students, and therefore, the use of alcohol on college campuses.
