Abstract

Historically, mental health has been associated with stereotypes that have altered society’s perception on this issue. These stereotypes have placed labels and stigmas on those who have mental health. This study examines data collected from a population of college students analyzing the correlation between mental health and self-esteem. Results are expected to show students, who identify having a mental health-related disorder, demonstrate  an increase or decrease in self-esteem based on society’s perception, including stereotypes and attributed labels, of mental health.
