Abstract

Child abuse, also known as maltreatment, consists of children being neglected, physically abused, sexually abused, and psychologically abused. Child maltreatment is cause by many factors affecting families worldwide, such as drugs, alcohol, mental illness, domestic violence between parents, poverty, and stress. This research demonstrates that domestic violence and poverty do play a role in child maltreatment and if there is anything that can be done to prevent child maltreatment.
