Abstract

Available research indicates that a sense of belonging has been linked to student's enhanced physical and mental wellbeing. This study explored sense of belonging through religious senses. Significant results were found. A majority of NKU students identified as Christians, and 69% reported lack of a sense of belonging. The findings of this study is similar to a 2015 campus wide survey, when students reported high negative perceptions of NKU’s commitment to building community and creating a sense of belonging on campus, especially among minority students. This suggests that more action needs to be taken to make NKU a more inclusive environment for all students, irrespective of their needs.
